About the Event
One Earth Conservation is successfully making a difference in the lives of endangered parrots and people who live with them. We go where there are no other conservation organizations are present and partner in solidarity with marginalized people, connecting them to nature and developing their conservation skills. This replicable model transforms poachers, communities, organizations and regions into effective conservation agents. One Earth’s compassionate and transformative approach to conservation connects people to nature, others and themselves as it builds their resilience, autonomy and mutual empowerment.
One Earth goes into regions that have received little attention and resources and where parrots are endangered or threatened, work with local people so they can eventually conduct sustainable parrot conservation work on their own (while supporting them at least initially), welcome in “bigger players” (such as international NGOs and government agencies) to assist and then eventually decrease our support, but not our commitment, as capacity grows. This is a slow process, and it varies depending on local culture, species, habitat and socioeconomic parameters. We usually intend to be present for at least a generation to ensure a project is successful. We welcome you to become a part of our committed team!
