About the Event
Our First Webinar this Spring:
Liberating Wings: Saving Birds, Yourself, and the World – April 7, Tuesday 11 a.m. – 12 p.m. EDT
In this webinar, we will explore how watching birds is a spiritually connecting practice. It promotes mindfulness, increasing one’s spiritual as well as psychological and physical health. By connecting to birds we can grow our empathy for ourselves, other humans, birds (of course) and to all life, even the harder parts of it. Bird watching is a means for growing your resilience and your advocacy – for yourself, for birds, and for all beings on earth.
With over 33 years of experience on the front-lines of parrot conservation (and in the ditches), Rev. Dr. LoraKim Joyner invites you to join her so that you can develop deeper connections to the beauty within and all around, and in so doing, liberate yourself and others from harmful practices that threaten life on this planet and everyone’s well being. Though we will be concentrating on birds and parrots, these webinars throw open the cage door for anyone who wishes the freedom of loving all that is, and expressing that love in concrete and doable actions and ways of being in the world. Come be a part of One Earth’s efforts to build a community where the beauty of what we are is what we do.
Our Spring Webinar Series give a free taste of our new program, a Parrot Conservation Corps, which is a year long webinar series to ground participants in the reality of this world, all its beauty and tragedy, so that we can become impactful advocates for life, and most especially parrots. The webinars stand alone, so you can choose to attend both, or only one, and if you can’t make either, we will make sure that you have a link to the recording. But first you must register.
Once you register we will send you a link, instructions, and a reminder about the upcoming webinar, which is an hour in length. Each webinar will have time for discussion, reflection, practice, and learning and will be faciliatated by Rev. Dr. LoraKim Joyner and Gail Koelln, co-directors of One Earth Conservation.
Our Second Webinar:
Keeping Parrots Flying Free: How to Become a Parrot Conservationist – May 27, Wednesday 11 a.m. – 12 p.m.
Maybe you are thinking that you can’t be a parrot conservationist because you don’t live where they fly free, but did you know that parrots exist on every contitent except for Antartica? No matter where you are, even if there aren’t parrots around, they need you, for they are the most endangered group of birds on the planet. In this webinar, Rev. Dr. LoraKim Joyner, who has over 33 years of experience working in parrot conservation in the Americas, will help you find meaning and community by learning about parrots and what you can do for them. During our time together you will receive an overview about the life of parrots, their conservation status, and why they are important for biodiversity and human health. We will explore what transformative parrot conservation is all about, which is doing the inner work of changing how we think and how our minds are wired, so that we are best prepared for the outer work of saving the parrots of the earth. Come join One Earth Conservation to be part of a community that loves parrots and life, and that wants to keep parrots flying free, by enjoying this emerging community that loves the parrots.
