I just spent 9.5 weeks, camping with the Indigenous parrot conservationists in La Moskitia, Honduras. I did this for many reasons, but primarily to witness oppressions threatening the people and people there, and to practice Unconditional Solidarity.

I know how hard a deeper examination can be. The last thing I want to do is shame people who already share their lives with parrots. I have cared for parrots myself. I have had them in my home. I know the depth of those bonds. For the sake of our love, let us ask hard questions: What if parrots were never meant to be pets at all? What if no cage is big enough?

React to those close to you, and move intimately, creatively and rapidly. Together, your mini-flock learns and influences the greater flock and the world. We do not know where we will land in the future, but we know we will do it beautifully and not alone.
