Atlantic Coast

With on-the-ground support from officials from the Guatemalan government agency, Consejo Nacional de Areas Protegidas (CONAP), the parrot rangers on the Atlantic coast of Guatemala are committed to protecting endangered yellow-headed amazons. People in this area are still recovering from back-to-back hurricanes that hit the area in November 2020.

South Coast

The main focus of our work on the south coast of Guatemala is on protecting critically endangered yellow-naped amazons. Our partners there include ARCAS Guatemala Wildlife Rescue and Conservation Association, COLORES (an Amazon parrot coalition and working group), Wildlife Conservation Society, and a number of local family ranches, where these birds like to nest and have found sanctuary.
