People came to the island of Ometepe, Nicaragua as strangers, and during the 4 days as parrot pilgrims, became family, and left transformed.

Ometepe Island
Together with our partners, Biometepe and Fauna and Flora International Ometepe, One Earth Conservation works to protect the critically endangered yellow-naped amazon parrot that nests on the island. We now work in six communities where educational events are offered, nests are monitored and protected, and nest boxes are installed to augment nesting. Along with our partners, One Earth Conservation also hosts a Parrot Pilgrimage on this beautiful island in December of most years.
