These opening remarks, given at the Foster Parrots Fundraiser and Memorial, invite us to go on without hope, but with love and connection.

Birding helps us embrace the reality of life and death, and hence become better stewards of earth.

Looking at parrots is a scientific art, such as during parrot conservation in Paraguay. It changes one to listen to what the parrot says.

The ranch hands and cowboys of Paraguay turn towards conservation to protect their parrots, and we thank them for it!
